Happy February!
February marks Black History Month - a time to celebrate and recognize the history, stories, and accomplishments of Black Americans.
Did you know that, according to a Venture Forward by GoDaddy survey, Black entrepreneurship skyrocketed 11 percentage points from 15% before the pandemic to 26% during the height of the economic damage in 2020?
Out of the 2.8 million microbusinesses Americans created in 2020, those that were Black-owned were on the rise. However, Black-Americans still struggle against many historic inequalities in this process.
SBAC Empower is one organization facing these challenges head on by offering education, mentorship and resources to small business owners in under-funded neighborhoods around Chicago. Check out their website to learn more! |
